As a result of beginning the controlled shutdown of Yahoo Photos last month, Yahoo’s Flickr has overtaken it’s former stable mate as the No.2 photo sharing website in terms of market share. According to web monitoring firm, Hitwise, Flickr now commands a 6.42% share in the market. This is up just under 2% since March 2007.
While shutting down Yahoo Photos, Yahoo have been fairly open as to where you can transfer your account, but obviously most of the push is going in Flickr’s direction. Photographs shared on Flickr now appear in Yahoo Image Search, further boosting traffic towards the site.
While lacking most of the community features of it’s rivals, Photobucket are still top of the pile when it comes to photo sharing. Their 44% of the marked overshadows all the competitors.
